What is Valentines Day?

In the third century, the Roman Empire was ruled by Emperor Claudius II Gothicus. He was nicknamed Claudius the Cruel because of his harsh leadership and his tendency for getting into wars and abusing his people. In fact, he was getting into so many wars during the third century that he was having a difficult time recruiting enough soldiers.

Claudius believed that recruitment for the army was down because Roman men did not want to leave their loves or families behind, so he canceled all marriages and engagements in Rome. Thousands of couples saw their hopes of matrimony dashed by the single act of a tyrant. And no one seemed interested in standing up to the emperor.

But a simple Christian priest named Valentine did come forward and stood up for love. He began to secretly marry soldiers before they went off to war, despite the emperor's orders. In 269 AD Emperor Claudius found out about the secret ceremonies. He had Valentine thrown into prison and deemed that he would be put to death.

As Valentine was awaiting execution, he fell in love with a blind girl, who happened to be the jailers daughter. On the eve of his execution, with no writing instruments available, Valentine is said to have written her a sonnet in ink that he squeezed from violets. Legend has it that his words made the blind woman see again. It was a brief romance because the next day Valentine was clubbed to death by Roman executioners.

St. Valentine gave his life so that young couples could be bonded together in holy matrimony. They may have killed the man, but not his spirit. Even centuries after his death, the story of Valentine's self-sacrificing commitment to love was legendary in Rome. Eventually he was granted Sainthood and the Catholic Church decided to create a feast in his honor. They picked February 14 as the day of celebration because of the ancient belief that birds (particularly lovebirds) began to mate on that very day.

Oooh look! So muscley! He/she does not have six packs abs.. but EIGHT!

Here is a picture of vivek, raehan, wei zhern and nabil dissecting the poor green creature. xD

and of course, athia, leon tai and peili giving it their shot on dissecting a frog too. (you have no idea how complicated the process was for us. ahahah, i believe i can say that we were most humane though as compared to some of the other groups who beheaded their frog & literally cracked open the skull!) Hopefully, the lives of frogs lost on that day will be compensated by the number of lives saved by the aspiring doctors in our class, yes? ;)

is a new Taiwanese drama I’ve been following right now.

This drama is rated a 9.18/10.
Even Gossip Girl is only rated a 7.6/10.
It is very touching and educative.
I like it a lot.

This drama talks about mighty love between lovers and strong family love.
I always thought that Taiwanese dramas are all the same.
Dramatic love stories, fancies, miracles and fantasies.
I was bored and I asked friends to recommend interesting drama for me to watch.
I was stubborn at first but I still watched it because I had nothing to do at night.
The result is I never regretted spending time watching this meaningful drama.

...have been packed with plans & various activities.

I have no idea why people rant about how boring holidays are 'cause I find it's not only the time to catch up with family and friends but your hobbies too. :D

I've always like picture hunting and have tons of them in my com (my mum will come to me whenever she wants to change her desktop background & I'll go through gazillions of pictures with her until she points at one and goes "I WANT THIS ONE, I WANT THIS ONEEE!")

Recently, I've found a photostream on Flickr where this person is doing a 365 project (one new picture each day for a year) of her teddy bear and her photography skills are awesome plus each picture is taken so creatively with a storyline included. I got so addicted I check the photostream every single day to see the new picture. >.<

Oh, & Poh Choo's surprise party was a success!
Will post up the video of her playing her organ.

water pressure, atmospheric pressure and gas pressure.....

according to Boyle's Law..

when the pressure increases, the volume decreases.....

relating Boyle's Law to kinetic theory..

its shows that when the gas is compressed, the no. of particles per unit increase. therefore, the frequency of collision between the gas particles and the wall of container increases resulting in the increase in the pressure of gas.

this means.....

when the exam pressure acting on me increases, the volume of my brain decreases.

thus,

when i have pressure, i cannot study.....

conclusion: i should not have pressure. xP

pressure is directly poportional to its absolute temperature.

when the temperatue of a gas in a container rises, the average kinetic energy of the gas particles increases and move faster. hence the gas molecules collide with the wall of the container more frequesntly and more vigorously. this increase the rate of change in momentum and hence, the pressure increases.

So....

when the weather gets hotter ( temperature rise), i cannot study well, so i have PRESSURE!!!

thus...

i should on air-cond when the weather kills.

conclusion: malaysia should have for season. xD or i shouldn't be in malaysia. alternative methods.

Bull Shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there..

Lesson 6

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field.

While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him.

As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was.

The dung was actually thawing him out!
He lay there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.
A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate.

Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of the story:
(1) Not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
(2) Not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.

What is a Christian?

A dictionary definition of a Christian would be something similar to “a person professing belief in Jesus as the Christ or in the religion based on the teachings of Jesus.” While this is a good starting point, like many dictionary definitions, it falls somewhat short of really communicating the biblical truth of what it means to be a Christian. The word “Christian” is used three times in the New Testament (Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16). Followers of Jesus Christ were first called “Christians” in Antioch (Acts 11:26) because their behavior, activity, and speech were like Christ. The word “Christian” literally means, “belonging to the party of Christ” or a “follower of Christ.”

Unfortunately over time, the word “Christian” has lost a great deal of its significance and is often used of someone who is religious or has high moral values but who may or may not be a true follower of Jesus Christ. Many people who do not believe and trust in Jesus Christ consider themselves Christians simply because they go to church or they live in a “Christian” nation. But going to church, serving those less fortunate than you, or being a good person does not make you a Christian. Going to church does not make you a Christian anymore than going to a garage makes you an automobile. Being a member of a church, attending services regularly, and giving to the work of the church does not make you a Christian.

The Bible teaches that the good works we do cannot make us acceptable to God. Titus 3:5 says, “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.” So, a Christian is someone who has been born again by God (John 3:3; John 3:7; 1 Peter 1:23) and has put faith and trust in Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:8 tells us that it is “…by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.”

A true Christian is a person who has put faith and trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ, including His death on the cross as payment for sins and His resurrection on the third day. John 1:12 tells us, “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.” The mark of a true Christian is love for others and obedience to God’s Word (1 John 2:4, 10). A true Christian is indeed a child of God, a part of God’s true family, and one who has been given new life in Jesus Christ.

Anyway,

Yi Jean here. Yes, the one who is rarely or almost never in class. :P

That aside, this is actually my first time publishing an update into this blog instead of my own. {credits to the blog administrator, su yi, my blog link is available at the sidebar :) } I shall flood this post with Pon & Zi pictures! (they're just too darn adorable and cheesy to resist!)

Holidays have finally arrived. Cut off some slack and go enjoy yourselves, peeps. I am interested to know what you guys are up to during the holidays so, do update about it, yeah? :)

As for me, I initially had a lot of pre-planned stuff going on but my mother has to go to Penang for some family matters. Thus, I have no transport for most things.

Hm. Let me share about my holiday plans I currently have. (i am just thinking straight from my head, so it is arranged in no particular order.)

They are:

1. Complete grey's anatomy season five
2. Have a blog layout makeover for my blog
3. Keep in touch and reconnect with my summer school friends through Facebook
4. Get some much needed exercise (i am so unfit :( )
5. Indulge in a good book or two (6 Most Important Decision You'll Ever Make by Sean Covey and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through The Looking Class by Lewis Caroll)
6. Assist in completing YE reports
7. Learn a dance piece from those 'how-to' videos in YouTube
8. Complete the halfway-through essay on my trip to Netherlands for the school
9. Learn how to play a new song on the piano from my sister
10. Learn to cook a new dish from gramma (hopefully, not poisoning anyone along the process! Hahah)
11. Write postcards i bought from Amsterdam to my relatives
12. Since I will be at home, I should use the opportunity to take pictures around the garden at my home and learning to appreciate the nature that's close to home
13. Clean up my room (imma' gonna make my mama proud! *victorious smile*)
13. Play badminton
14. and if possible.... solve the freaking Rubiks Cube! (Yes, i know the rubik's cube craze died down eons ago, unfortunately i still have not solved it without tearing it apart since last year! Shut up. I will. Someday. Maybe, instead of bagging the title of the person who solves the rubik's cube the fastest, i will be the person who takes the longest time to solve the rubik's cube! xP)

Hey people!
Wanted to post a nice, proper post but I have no idea what's wrong with blogger in my house.

I can't access ANY blogspot..
..Not on my computer, my parents' or even my brother's. =/

Since the blog is like dead. Im gonna post this .
On Thursday, we got our physics marks back.
And in our class there was this peculiar boy named Lee Munnnn.
He was devasted because he didnt get his desired marks. There was a question about bernoulli's principle. Most ppl wrote a sentence and got that 1 mark. However Lee Moi wrote an essay for the answer and he still got it WRONG ! LOL!!!!
So he went to Encik Ishak and started arguing with him for like 40 minutes. THanks to the Mr.I love to debate a.k.a Lee Muun we missed our whole physics lesson. :D
In the end teacher just gave him that stupid 1 mark. Probably because he was so pissed off. If I were teacher, I'd just give him 0 for the paper.
The moral of the story is..... run away from LEE MUN !! AHHHH

and I'm here to ask again, has anyone seen Izzati's Maths 1?
i'm worry because she uses it as her reference book.
and that made me feel guilty now for not taking care of her book properly. Well, i actually left my books in our classroom (PBSMI) before i went for duty in the library.
But when i came back, i found out Izzati's maths 1 was missing.
ughh, i rather to lose my own exercise book than hers.

The Lawyer and the Chinese

A lawyer and a Chinese are sitting next to each other on a long flight.
The lawyer is thinking that all Chinese are so dumb that he could get over on them, easy. So the lawyer asks if the Chinese would like to play a fun game.

The Chinese is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines, and tries to catch a few winks.

The lawyer persists, and says that the game is a lot of fun. I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me only $5; you ask me one, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you $500, he says.

This catches the Chinese's attention and to keep the lawyer quiet, he agrees to play the game.

The lawyer asks the first question. 'What's the distance from The Earth to the Moon?'
The Chinese doesn't say a word, reaches in his pocket, pulls out a five-dollar bill, and hands it to the lawyer.

Now, it's the Chinese's turn. He asks the lawyer, 'What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?' The lawyer uses his laptop and searches all references he could not find on the Net. He sends e-mails to all the smart friends he knows, all to no avail. After one hour of searching he finally gives up.

He wakes up the Chinese and hands him $500. The Chinese pockets the $500 and goes right back to sleep.
The lawyer is going nuts not knowing the answer.

He wakes the Chinese up and asks, 'Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?

The Chinese reaches in his pocket, hands the lawyer $5 and goes back to sleep.
